I appologize for the delay as my life got sligthly complicated lately. On top of that my pc crashed last week - I think the cpu is screwed (it will power off as soon as it gets even a little load) and the only way around it was to under-clock it to 1ghz and 0.7v and now I will have to install everything.

I know there is still room for of improvements, optimization, etc. "Unfortunately" I have built this application so big and I got so little time lately that I should probably focus on getting the core functionality working right and here any suggestions and ideas will really help.

It is compiled on XP. On windows 7 there it seems that you might encounter crashes (mostly due to io permisions) – I will get them fixed as soon as I will get some time.

Larry, that is an amazing feat that you have achieved.
I am downloading it as I type this and will start to play around with it.

I use XP for imaging, but I am an avid OSX user, so here I am as well, if you need another OSX tester.

your project is very interesting and I see you have the vision to explore exciting possibilities. Having being an Apple associate programmer (APDA member) for years in the past I could help you with the MacOS X version, at least as beta-tester. I could also test the FreeBSD version on my development servers.

Essendo stato nel passato uno sviluppatore associato Apple (membro APDA) per anni potrei aiutarti con la versione MacOS X, almeno come beta-tester. Potrei anche testare la versione FreeBSD suoi miei server di sviluppo.

I will start working on porting to other platforms as soon as I will get a stable release. Any help will be highly appreciated! Once in beta I will also be looking to set up a repository for the source code as well and the more developers involved the better as there is a lot to be done.
Anyone else got the time to try this pre-alpha so far?

Voglio cominciare a lavorare sul porting verso altre piattaforme più presto mi metterò una release stabile. Qualsiasi aiuto sarà molto apprezzato! Una volta in versione beta sarò anche cercando di creare un repository per il codice sorgente come bene e gli sviluppatori più coinvolto il meglio come ci sia molto da fare.
Chiunque altro ha ottenuto il tempo di provare questa pre-alpha finora?

I tested some features.

The application is very fast on XP - Core2/Duo
I got a crash using Group -> Match
Loading of a user JPEG image works
Resizing window works, at least up to 1280x1024 in my tests.
Double-clicking on a star 1st time worked, 2nd time worked, 3rd time crashed.

I fixed some of the bugs ... now it should also work better on windows 7. Download it from the same location and try to see if this time is crashing as well. on which image/object was crashing?

A new version has been released with:

- updated the star common names list with a better one
- added extension files one and two to tycho2
- added map for common names with tycho2
- fixed 2mass catalog names display error
- fixed show/hide all objects from menu->view objects
- fixed search in spiral - which is now set default as it's faster (instead of swipe)
- added a simple method to check/notify on updates
- some minor bug fixes

Also, note that now there is a forum on the site to discuss more in depth the technical problems.

Una nuova versione è stata rilasciata con:

- Ha aggiornato l'elenco stella nomi comuni con uno migliore
- L'estensione dei file aggiunto uno e due a tycho2
- Ha aggiunto la mappa per i nomi comuni con tycho2
- Fissa i nomi catalogo 2MASS display errore
- Mostra fisso / nascondere tutti gli oggetti dal menu Visualizza-> oggetti
- Ricerca fisso a spirale - che è ora impostato di default come è più veloce (invece di strisciare)
- Ha aggiunto un metodo semplice per controllare / notify sugli aggiornamenti
- Alcune correzioni di bug minori

Si noti inoltre che vi è un forum sul sito per discutere in modo più approfondito i problemi tecnici.
