Eccovi un pò di materiale aggiornatissimo sull'osservazione delle meteore:

https://www.meteornews.net/2023/02/11/g ... port-2022/

The 2022 annual report of the Global Meteor Network has been published online.

A meteor camera network is teamwork like no other, all participants depend on each other for success. Denis Vida's unwavering commitment to helping everyone in this project takes meteor astronomy to new levels. More than 300 new cameras were installed in 2022 and 334668 orbits were collected during last year. Never before has any volunteer's work been so much more rewarding in astronomy, and meteor astronomy in particular, than what is being achieved by the Global Meteor Network.

Read about the network status in 2022: https://www.meteornews.net/2023/02/11/g ... port-2022/

The report focuses on the camera coverage by country. Camera operators are encouraged to install Google Earth and explore their regional coverage of the atmosphere. Peter Cambell-Burns prepared aggregated kml files for Google Earth to facilitate visual viewing of camera overlap. Many regions still need better coverage. To study meteoroid streams and dust in general in our solar system, we use our entire Earth atmosphere as an observing instrument. To take advantage of our planet wide instrument, we need cameras in as many geographic locations as possible. Maybe you have an observatory, friends or family where you can host a meteor camera? The Google Earth kml files should help you to see where you can best point extra cameras or improve the pointing of existing cameras.

Feel free to use all the information to spread the word, writing articles, giving talks about meteor astronomy. The last section of the report provides links to more information about how to obtain meteor cameras, how to build them, how to install and how to use them.

Global Meteor Network offers a unique opportunity to volunteers and amateur astronomers to make a breakthrough contribution to finally unravel the puzzle of dust in the solar system, a challenge mankind has been struggling with for a long time. I got involved almost 50 years ago in this challenge, Global Meteor Network brings us closer to our goal than ever. All help is welcome.

Buona lettura e buon lavoro! :D

Ciao.
