Rosarno is a small town in the Italian region of Calabria. It was originally a Greek colony known as Medma.
The renowned ancient astronomer Filippo di Medma lived there.
(165694) Calosisbaragli = 2001 PQ28
Adriana Calosi (1945–2024) and Michele Sbaragli (b. 1944), were a married couple passionate about
astronomy. They have been active members of the Gruppo Astrofili Montelupo since 1995.
(656196) Falchi = 2015 XA204
Fabio Falchi (b. 1967) is an Italian high-school physics teacher and scientist, and guardian of the
world's dark skies. He has dozens of publications on light pollution, including The World Atlas of
Light Pollution. Fabo helped define anti-light-pollution rules and laws, pushing for long -term
limitations on artificial light at night.
(702688) Federicocolombo = 2006 RF114
Federico Colombo (1946–2022) was an Italian neurosurgeon, and a pioneer in radiosurgery and
neurosurgery. He developed the world’s first LINAC-based stereotactic radiosurgery system and
introduced the first robotic radiosurgery system in Europe. He was a son of Giuseppe ‘Bepi’
Colombo (1920–1984), Italian mathematician and engineer.
(730495) Costafrancini = 2012 HH58
Claudio Costa (b. 1955) is an Italian amateur astronomer and technical expert at the Vatican
Observatory. He observes stellar occultations and leads groups for observations at the Carte
du Ciel telescope. His wife Carla Francini (b. 1962) holds a master’s degree in mathematics
and has worked with the Vilnius photometric system together with F. Smriglio.
(788153) Trabia = 2016 PT297
Trabia is a Sicilian municipality near Palermo. In 1154, on behalf of King Ruggero II of Sicily,
the Arab geographer al-Idrisi documented the production of itriya, a thread-like pasta
considered the ancestor of spaghetti. It is therefore one of the oldest places linked to the
tradition of pasta, a symbol of Italian gastronomic excellence.
